Preparation and labour
Cleaning, filling, sanding, priming, masking, furniture protection, and cleanup may be substantial parts of the work. A colour change or damaged surface can change the required preparation.
Ceilings, trim, and access
Ceilings and trim are separate selections in the calculator. High walls, occupied rooms, extensive furniture moving, wallpaper removal, and major plaster work should be discussed separately.
DIY and safety boundaries
Older coatings can create lead-risk considerations. EPA and HSE guidance emphasises controlling dust and using appropriate methods when old paint may be disturbed; do not treat routine repainting and aggressive stripping as the same task.
